15 Gemini Prompts for Stunning Double Exposure Photos
Double exposure photography has always fascinated me. There’s something magical about layering two images to create a single, dreamlike composition. What used to require careful darkroom work or complex Photoshop skills can now be done with AI.
Google Gemini’s Nano Banana image model is surprisingly good at editing and creating photos. I spent hours experimenting with different prompts, and I want to share what worked best.
How to Use These Prompts
Head over to gemini.google.com or open your Gemini app and start a new chat. Attach your photo and paste any of the prompts below. You can also use aistudio.google.com and select the Nano Banana model from there.
I tested all 15 of these prompts myself. Some turned out better than others, but they all gave me results I could work with. Here they are.
1. Monochrome Film Portrait with Shifted Angles
Create a monochrome, film-like double-exposure portrait of a young person with short, tousled, curly hair. The first exposure shows them with eyes closed and a serene, introspective expression, head slightly tilted downward. The second exposure overlaps at a shifted angle, showing their face again with eyes open and a calm, distant gaze. Both exposures blend softly with a hazy, atmospheric background that feels like an overcast day near a blurred landscape. Their hands gently grasp the lapels of a thick, textured coat, adding a tactile, emotional element. The overall style is poetic and dreamlike, with soft grain, subtle light leaks, muted grayscale tones, and a nostalgic analog aesthetic. Emphasize moodiness, emotional depth, and seamless blending between the two portrait layers.

2. Nature Infused Portrait with Blooming Flowers
Create a vibrant double-exposure portrait blending the serene face of an adult woman with an outdoor scene filled with blooming flowers. The person has smooth, soft features and long, wavy hair illuminated by natural sunlight. Her expression is calm and contemplative, uplifted slightly as if gazing toward a bright sky. Overlaid across her face and upper body are close-up flower branches with rich green leaves and vivid pink-purple blossoms, sharply detailed and lit by warm daylight. The sky behind them is a clear, saturated blue, creating a luminous, dreamy atmosphere. The exposures should merge gently, allowing the petals, leaves, and stems to flow across the contours of her face, creating an ethereal, almost spiritual visual effect. Emphasize transparency, sun-kissed highlights, soft shadows, and a harmonious infusion of nature with portraiture.

3. Reflective Profile with Water’s Edge
Create a black-and-white double-exposure photograph combining a close-up portrait and a full-body figure. In the primary exposure, a man with short, slightly wavy hair is shown in profile with his eyes closed, head gently tilted upward as if in quiet reflection. Soft, even lighting emphasizes the contours of his face and the texture of his hair. The second exposure shows the same person standing at the edge of calm water, viewed from behind and dressed in a dark, fitted suit. He appears small in scale compared to the large, semi-transparent portrait layered over the sky. The horizon line is faint and merges into a pale, misty atmosphere. The overall aesthetic is minimalist and cinematic, with subtle film grain, gentle contrast, and a contemplative, almost dreamlike emotion. Emphasize harmony between the two exposures, tranquility, and a sense of internal dialogue.

4. Sunset Silhouette with Dramatic Clouds
Create a dreamlike double-exposure portrait featuring the elegant side profile of a woman with her eyes gently closed. Her silhouette is clean and well-defined, with soft highlights along the curve of her forehead, nose, lips, and neck. Inside the profile, seamlessly blended, is a vivid sunset sky filled with dramatic clouds in hues of warm gold, fiery orange, coral pink, and deep twilight blue. The cloud formations drift across the contours of her face as though her thoughts are made of sky. Strands of her hair subtly merge with darker patches of clouds, creating a natural transition between the two exposures. The overall tone is calm, introspective, and ethereal, balancing realism in the facial profile with a painterly, atmospheric landscape. Emphasize high detail, glowing sunset light, smooth transitions, and a serene, poetic visual mood.

5. Golden Hour Memory Blend
Create a warm-toned double-exposure portrait featuring a close-up of a woman’s face, softly illuminated by golden light. Her expression is calm and introspective, with warm brown eyes looking gently toward the viewer. Her skin carries a natural, sun-kissed glow, and long dark hair frames her face. The second exposure overlays a scene of a person in profile, facing sideways, with soft outdoor lighting and faint environmental details such as distant trees and a horizon line. Subtle elements like a hand resting near the chin and a railing or metal bars appear faintly within the blend, adding layered texture and narrative depth. The exposures merge smoothly with warm oranges, soft shadows, and a gentle haze, creating an intimate, nostalgic mood. Emphasize seamless blending, warm sunset coloration, reflective emotion, and the poetic interplay between portraiture and memory-like secondary imagery.

6. Urban Silhouette at Blue Hour
Create a dramatic double-exposure portrait formed within the silhouette of a man wearing a cap, shown in profile with his face angled slightly upward in a thoughtful, determined expression. The silhouette is dark and clean-edged against a smooth, neutral background. Inside the silhouette, seamlessly blended, is a dusky cityscape at blue hour, featuring distant high-rise buildings, a recognizable tower structure, and soft reflections on the water. The city appears slightly hazy, as if viewed through twilight mist, with scattered urban lights beginning to glow. In the lower portion of the composition, hints of an industrial foreground emerge: fencing, concrete, scattered debris, and subtle lens flares that add cinematic atmosphere. The portrait texture within the silhouette retains gentle shading and grain, merging organically with the skyline. Emphasize moody lighting, cool blue-grey tones, crisp silhouette edges, and a strong visual fusion between human identity and urban environment.

7. Ghostly Background Self-Portrait
Create a monochrome, high-contrast black-and-white double exposure portrait of a young woman standing against a smooth, lightly textured concrete wall. The main figure is centered, wearing an oversized, patterned knit sweater with soft, heavy folds. Her posture is relaxed, hands low in front of her, expression neutral and calm. Behind her, create a large, ghostly double-exposure silhouette of her face, soft, blurred, and semi-transparent, filling most of the background. The layered effect should feel dreamlike and ethereal, as though two moments in time are merging. Lighting is diffused and even, with no harsh shadows. The overall mood is quiet, introspective, and artistic, reminiscent of analog film photography and experimental exposure techniques.

8. Desert Golden Hour Joy
Create a warm, golden-hour double-exposure portrait set in an open desert landscape with dry shrubs and soft earth tones. The scene merges two overlapping images of the same woman, creating a dreamy, ethereal effect. In the primary exposure, she stands with her body turned slightly to the side, wearing a loose, off-the-shoulder mustard-yellow top and a flowing white skirt. Her expression is serene, eyes closed, hair falling naturally around her face as the sunset light brushes her skin. In the secondary, translucent exposure layered over the first, she is captured in a joyful moment—head tilted back slightly, arms raised above her head, hair cascading down in motion, and a bright, natural smile. The sunset behind her glows softly, tinting the entire composition with warm amber and rose hues. The combined result should feel nostalgic and emotive, blending stillness with movement, and capturing the warmth, freedom, and softness of golden-hour desert photography. Aim for natural lighting, gentle shadows, and a subtle film-like texture that enhances the dreamy double-exposure effect.

9. Romantic Rooftop Moment
Create a romantic, cinematic poster-style composition featuring a soft, dreamy double-exposure effect. In the upper portion, create a close-up of a couple facing one another, both wearing dark sunglasses. Their expressions are calm and affectionate as they look into each other’s eyes. The lighting is bright and diffused, giving their faces a gentle glow and creating a pale, airy background that fades softly at the edges. Blend this with a second scene placed toward the lower half of the image: the same couple standing apart on a rooftop terrace with mountains in the distance. The man wears a light-colored suit jacket and a darker shirt, standing in profile, while the woman wears a white outfit and sunglasses, facing the camera from a short distance away. The landscape is serene, with pale blue tones and a hazy horizon that adds a cinematic, romantic mood.

10. Industrial Railyard Contemplation
Create a black-and-white double-exposure composition blending a close-up portrait of a young person with long, windswept hair and a quiet, industrial railyard scene. The face should dominate the frame, with soft light revealing subtle contours, calm expression, and delicate highlights along the hair. Through the transparency of the portrait, layer strong linear elements of train tracks, cargo wagons, signal lights, and metal structures that extend into the distance, creating deep perspective lines. Ensure the two images merge seamlessly so the tracks align with the facial features, especially the eyes and jawline, forming a poetic visual interplay between human emotion and industrial geometry. The overall mood should be contemplative, atmospheric, and slightly haunting, with high contrast, fine grain, and a classic film-photography aesthetic.

11. City Lights Through Hair
Create a cinematic double-exposure composition blending a soft, intimate portrait of a person with wavy, shoulder-length hair and a glowing nighttime city street. The portrait should appear gently illuminated with warm highlights catching the hair’s curls, the figure looking downward in a quiet, contemplative pose. Through the transparent layers of the face and hair, merge a bustling urban avenue seen from above: headlights streaking along multiple lanes, cars in motion, crosswalks, streetlamps, and reflections glimmering on wet pavement. Ensure the two scenes flow into each other seamlessly—city lights glowing through strands of hair, the curve of the face echoing the rhythm of the street. Maintain a moody, reflective atmosphere with rich shadows, warm color tones, subtle film grain, and the dreamy softness characteristic of analog photography. Create a balanced harmony between introspective portrait and energetic cityscape, evoking a sense of solitude within urban motion.

12. Daisy in the Grass
Create a monochrome double-exposure portrait featuring a person lying in grass, their face partially obscured by overlapping natural textures. The subject wears round reflective sunglasses and has slightly tousled, curly hair. Blend the facial features with close-up elements of wild grass, small leaves, and soft organic shapes to create an ethereal, dreamlike overlay. Prominently incorporate a single bright daisy positioned over one lens of the sunglasses, its petals crisp and luminous against the darker tones of the image. The person’s expression should appear relaxed and contemplative, with subtle shadows shaping the cheeks and lips. Ensure the composition feels immersive and layered, with delicate transitions between the face, the flowers, and the surrounding foliage. Use high contrast, fine film-style grain, and a soft, moody blur to evoke a nostalgic, surreal atmosphere.

13. Vintage Sepia Ocean Memory
Create a soft, nostalgic double-exposure artwork in warm sepia tones. Blend a serene close-up portrait of a woman gazing upward with calm, hopeful expression and elegant traditional earrings with a full-body scene of the same figure standing on a large rock by the ocean. The portrait should dominate the upper half of the composition, with gentle light highlighting her eyes, cheeks, and flowing hair. Within the silhouette of the larger face, subtly integrate the distant horizon, soft waves, and the figure’s silhouette facing the sea, wrapped in a detailed patterned saree that moves gently in the breeze. Add faint film textures, vertical scratches, dust particles, soft flicker, to evoke an old cinematic or vintage-photography style. Maintain a dreamy, reflective mood with smooth gradients, soft shadows, and an overall sense of quiet introspection and memory.

14. Neon Color Shift Portrait
Create a striking dual-exposure portrait featuring a young woman in a simple light-colored t shirt, captured from two slightly different angles, one facing forward with a calm, direct gaze, and the other turned in profile with a subtle, thoughtful expression. Blend these two poses so they overlap fluidly, creating soft, transparent transitions between the faces and hair. Use bold, contrasting neon color overlays: rich turquoise and cool cyan tones washing over one figure, and warm red and magenta hues enveloping the other. Allow these colors to bleed and merge in expressive gradients, giving the image a dreamy, otherworldly glow. Incorporate soft bokeh lights and blurred abstract shapes in the background to enhance the modern, cinematic atmosphere.

15. Sun-Dappled Tree Overlay
Create a soft, sunlit double-exposure portrait featuring a person standing confidently outdoors, viewed slightly from below, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a cropped top. Blend the subject seamlessly with delicate tree branches and hanging leaves, so the foliage overlays their face, hat, and torso like a translucent organic pattern. The branches should appear light and feathery, with fine details visible against a pale blue sky. Use warm, natural daylight that casts gentle highlights along the face and hat brim, creating a calm, reflective mood. Let the person’s expression remain serene and upward-looking, as if quietly observing the sky. Maintain a dreamy, film-like aesthetic with soft focus, subtle grain, and gentle flares of sunlight. Allow the shapes of hands and clothing to faintly merge with the tree textures, reinforcing the theme of harmony between human presence and nature. Keep the overall tone airy, poetic, and grounded in the beauty of the outdoors.
