How to Create AI Videos with Consistent Characters

Have you ever wanted to make a series of videos where your main character always looks the same? It would be a big deal, right? The problem is, most AI tools can’t keep a character consistent across different videos.

But that’s changing. I’m going to walk you through using a feature from Minimax to make AI videos with a consistent character. We’ll use Freepik’s AI tools, focusing on the Minimax video model. This tool keeps your character the same, which makes your projects look polished and professional.

Get Started with Freepik

First, go to freepik.com. You need a premium subscription to use their AI tools. If you don’t have one, think about getting it. It’s worth it for the extra features, especially if you’re serious about making AI content.

Once you’re logged in, go to the AI Video Generator.

You’ll see a few modes: Fast, High Quality, and Custom. We’ll use the Custom mode.

It lets us pick specific models, including Minimax Reference.

Choose the Right Model

In the Custom mode, look through the list of models until you see Minimax Reference. It’s under “Featured modes” section.

Upload Your Reference Image

Now it’s time to upload your reference image. Click on “Upload Character Reference” option.

I used an AI-generated picture of a woman that I made with Midjourney. When picking your reference image, make sure the character is clear. This helps the AI understand what it needs to copy.

Customize the Video Description

After you upload the image, the tool will make its own video description. But here’s a tip: always change the description to match what you want. For example, I changed the default description to “The woman is riding a super bike.”

This makes sure the video matches your creative idea.

Generate Your Video

Click the Generate button. The tool will make a 5-second video in a 16:9 aspect ratio. It might take a few minutes. Once the video is ready, let’s check it out.

What’s great is that the character in the video looks just like the reference image I uploaded. This means the AI kept the character consistent.

Test Different Prompts

To really test this feature, I tried different prompts with the same reference image. For example:

• “The woman is walking through a futuristic city.”
• “The woman is standing in a snowy landscape.”

Each time, the character looked the same. This is exactly what we want.

The feature makes it easier than ever to produce content that holds the viewer’s attention from start to finish. You don’t have to worry about your character changing appearances, which can be distracting.
