Flux Prompts for Cartoon Images - Imagine with Rashid

Flux, a text to image model that’s been a game changer for many. It’s made by Black Forest Labs, and I’ve been using their Flux 1.0 fast model through Freepik.

I spent the last few weeks testing different prompts, and I want to share what I’ve learned. In this post, I’ll show you my base prompt structure for cartoon illustrations and 30 different examples I’ve created.

Whether you’re making illustrations for your website, social media, or just for fun, these prompts should give you a solid starting point.

The Base Prompt Structure

I settled on a base prompt that consistently gives me good results. Here it is:

Let me break this down piece by piece, because each part matters:

The Subject

This is what you actually want to create. I’ve found that being specific helps a lot. Instead of just saying “apple,” I say “bright red apple.” Rather than “person,” I say “scientist with glasses.” The more clear you are about what you want, the better the results.

Style: Cartoon

Adding “in the style of cartoon” tells Flux to keep things simple and stylized. This helps avoid any photorealistic elements that might sneak in. I’ve noticed it gives that clean, animated look that works great for illustrations.

Vector

It helps create those clean, scalable lines we want in cartoon illustrations.

Colors: Vibrant

“Vibrant colors” gets you those bold, eye-catching shades that really pop. Without this specification, I sometimes got more muted or realistic colors, which wasn’t what I wanted for cartoon-style art.

Outlines: Bold

“Bold outlines” is what gives these illustrations their classic cartoon look. It’s like having someone trace around all the important elements with a thick marker. This makes each illustration stand out clearly.

Background: White

I always add “white background” because it makes the illustrations easier to work with later. You can always add a different background in your design software, but starting with white gives you a clean canvas.

I stuck with this format because it’s simple but effective. Each part has a specific job, and together they create a clear set of instructions for Flux.

Think of it like giving directions to an artist. You tell them what to draw first, then how you want it to look. This straightforward approach has worked really well for me.
